As your council member, I will continue to focus on Lathrop's families, seniors, and small businesses. I will advocate for public safety, our children, and our City.
Welcome. My name is Jennifer Torres-O’Callaghan and I am proud to be your current Councilwoman.
Council Experience:
I am currently serving my second term as your City Councilmember. During my tenure, I advocated for developing our own Lathrop police department. I succeeded in having several crosswalks installed near our schools. I also worked with the city attorney to create a ordinance prohibiting digital device use in the city’s crosswalks while educating and making our youth safer on their walks to and from school. I also brought a referral to have safety cameras installed in Lathrop parks. I currently serve on the San Joaquin County Water Advisory Board, the City of Lathrop and the City of Manteca 2 x 2 committee, and on both the MUSD and BANTA School Districts' 2x2 committees.
Experience: Commissions
In addition to my time on City Council, I spent seven (plus) years serving as a commissioner for the City of Lathrop. I proudly served on the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Measure C Citizen’s Commission, and as a Planning Commissioner. During my tenure, I have consistently focused on responsible growth, supporting our first responders, and, most importantly, being a voice for our children and families.
Volunteering in our Schools:
Currently, I proudly serve both on the Mossdale School Site Safety Committee and ,concurrently, on the Lathrop High School School Site Council.
Over the past 10 pus years, I have volunteered in many areas at Lathrop schools including: the School Site Council, School Site Advisory Committee, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation Committee and , of course, the PTA.
Education:
I am a proud graduate of U.C. Berkeley. I worked my way through undergraduate school and was first in my family to attend a UC. After I graduated, I married my high school sweetheart, John, we started our family. A few years later, I attended Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, went to night school, and graduated with my J.D. During law school, I had the honor of serving on the Moot Court Board and being chosen to intern for the Office of Legislative Council in Sacramento where I drafted bills for our Assembly and Senate, prepared advisory legal opinions for our Governor, and attended committee hearings and floor sessions of the Legislature in an advisory capacity.
With my education and real life experience, I truly understand the California legislative process and can faithfully say that I have hit the ground running for Lathrop including participating in the League of California Cities : Legislative Action Days in Sacramento; meeting and advocating for Lathrop with our top state legislators.
As your Councilmember, I will continue in my mission to represent Lathrop’s families.
Welcome. My name is Jennifer Torres-O’Callaghan and I am running for re-election to Lathrop City Council. I am a proud to be your current Councilwoman and hope to have your vote to continue being the voice for your family on Lathrop City Council.
I love living in Lathrop. I love raising my family in Lathrop. And I love serving in Lathrop.
I hope to have your vote.
